I am deeply drawn to craftsmanship that expresses the soul of Syria. The beautiful chair with its delicate mother-of-pearl inlay has brought us the dreams and fragrance of another culture. The moment when I sit in this chair and enjoy the rich aroma, with a cup of coffee placed on the coffee table, which is also a piece of traditional Syrian craft, I feel the joy of being alive and feel happiness. Surrounded by the fragrance of another culture, I feel the world and sense the future. I naturally pray that beautiful culture will be carried into the future, and that as we all connect with one another heart to heart, a peaceful world will be created.
They are now placed at Café Komaya in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan. Café Komaya is a space enveloped in natural solid wood. The floor and ceiling are made entirely of natural, unpainted solid wood, and all the tables and chairs are solid wood as well. The traditional Syrian crafts that embody the soul of Syria have arrived in this space. It is truly a space in which the souls of Japan and Syria commune with one another and new creation is born.
